Description
The true enemy of silage fermentation is not pH; it’s oxygen. By using SiloSolve FC, which includes an oxygen scavenging bacteria (Lactococcus lactis 0224), oxygen is removed extremely quickly allowing the pH to drop quickly and efficiently to allow lactic acid fermentation to dominate.
The action of the oxygen scavenging bacteria is further enhanced by the synergist relationship with a patented strain of Lactobacillus buchneri LB1819.
This has antifungal properties that inhibit yeast and mould growth that leads to increased aerobic stability. The action of this particular L. buchneri strain works differently to others because it promotes acetic acid production but not at the expense of increased dry matter losses.
This novel combination facilitates rapid establishment of anaerobic conditions in all silage types and improves fermentation to inhibit growth of yeast, mould and other undesirable microorganisms. The result is a silage with improved aerobic stability in the clamp and TMR at feed out, even as early as 7-8 days of fermentation, for crops treated with SiloSolve FC.
For organic use, SiloSolve FC EKO is available.
Please note the use of silage additives cannot be expected to overcome poor silage making practices, highly adverse weather conditions or unsatisfactory feeding-out procedures.
