    Description

Ketocol is a glucose precursor which will increase blood glucose levels, reducing the risk of ketosis post calving. Ketocol can simply be added to drinking water. Ketocol removes the negative pressure on feed intake and enables the cow to produce more glucose herself and get the lactation off to a flying start. In addition, being sweet tasting, Ketocol improves water intake. The added weight to the rumen soon after calving helps prevent displaced abomasums.

    Analysis

    • Selected Natural Palm Glycerol (propane 1,2,3-trial):  minimum 98.6%
    • ME:   17 MJ/Kg DM

    Benefits & Usage

    Benefits

    • Easy to use, no need to drench cows
    • Less expensive than Propylene Glycol
    • Natural and sweet tasting
    • Improves water intake to help replace lost body fluids at calving and helps prevent displaced abomasums
    • Improves natural glucose production by increasing blood glycol levels, increasing rumen production of propionate and butyrate

    Usage

    • Typical dose is 0.5L (maximum 0.75L per 24 hour period)
    • Offer in warm water (10-25L) at calving and 24 hours later (or drench if preferred) or at anytime when a cow is off her feed
    • May also be used as an in-feed energy source for cattle (ME 17MJ/kg). Typical feed rate 200g to 300g per head per day. Caution: as with all glucose precursors the effect diminishes with frequency of feeding. Restrict to maximum two meals per day (not free access) if a glucogenic response is desired.
